DESCRIPTION:At the 1925 Lions Club International Convention\, Helen Keller was invited to speak to the Lions gathered. \nThe last paragraph of her speech was as follows.  “The opportunity I bring you Lions is this.  To foster and sponsor the work of the American Foundation for the Blind.  Will you now help me hasten the day when there will be no preventable blindness\, no little deaf-blind child untaught.  No blind man or woman unaided.  I appeal to you Lions you who have your sight\, your hearing.  You who are strong and brave and kind.  Will you not constitute yourself Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness.            I Thank You. \nThe Lions present gave Helen Keller a standing ovation.  The motion was made to make Helen Keller an honorary member of Lions Clubs.  Every person there seconded this motion!

SUMMARY:Installation of New Officers and Board Members
DESCRIPTION:June of each year the Madison Lions Club hosts its Installation Banquet for incoming officers and board members.  It is a wonderful time for our members\, their wives\, and special guests to come together to start the night with a grand buffet of homemade goodies.  The food ranges from finger foods like shrimp\, crackers\, and dips and\, get ready\, special jalapeno stuffed halves.  If you are a connoisseur of jalapeno food items\, this is a must for your plate.  As you move down the tables of food\, you will find salads of different kinds\, assorted meat products\, tea\, soft drinks\, water\, and a fabulous dessert table. James Wilkerson\, Past District Governor\, reminds us of the importance of each office and board members’ duties both to the club and Madison County service projects.  The new officers and board members now pledge to serve to be the best of their abilities.  Our former Club President presents the gavel to the new Club President.  Then our new Club President presents the former Club President with a wonderful plaque for the outstanding job they have carried out as President. Our new President presents a snapshot of where we have been as a club and direction for the future.  This includes growing fundraisers to increase current projects and begin new areas of service in our community and adding new members.
