Mary Kitchens was our guest speaker on May 11, 2021.Ā Wife of Mississippi Supreme Court, Judge Kitchens, Mary is heavily involved with Mississippiās Toughest Kids Foundation (MTK) in building Camp Kamassa, Mississippiās first and only year-round handicap-accessible camp facility for children and adults with serious illnesses, physical and mental challenges, and other special needs.
Nestled on 326 acres in beautiful Copiah County, Camp Kamassa will serve all 82 Mississippi Counties.
The word Kamassa is not something you hear every day.Ā Kamassa is a Choctaw word that means āto be tough or to persevere under difficult circumstancesā.Ā That well describes the future Camp Kamassa campers.
Mrs. Kitchens showed us an enlarged architectās drawing of the camp and its facilities.Ā She is hopeful the camp will open sometime in 2022.
What a blessing this camp will be for those who have challenges beyond daily living.
Mrs. Kitchens, thank you for a wonderful, descriptive presentation for this camp.
