Irene McClain About Diabetes

Irene McClain with the Diabetes Foundation of MS was out guest speaker on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.  She has worked as a research assistant in the Division of Infectious Disease and the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Stanford University.  In 1994, she moved with her family to Ridgeland, MS, and started working at the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi.   

Her main focus at the Diabetes Foundation of MS is education, including creating continuing education programs for health professionals, adults and families of children with diabetes.  Irena actively works with the DFM and other agencies to eliminate health disparities and increase access to care.

She presented a fantastic program on diabetes and provided our members with several brochures to help us better understand this killer disease in Mississippi.
